European Union it is starting to deal with serious problems when it comes to obesity and other medical conditions related to bad eating habits and lack of sport activities among youth. This project is aiming at gathering youngsters from different European countries to take initiative and learn what makes a healthy life style, what maintenance exercises are and what makes a healthy diet. Together they will exchange ideas and find ways to promote sport activities and eating healthy in local communities.
Objective: The project’s objective is to stimulate the active participation of young Europeans, with the purpose to start local and/or national initiatives to promote the practice of sports and adopting a balanced and healthy diet.
Period: 01.09.2015 – 01.09.2016
Location: Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Spain
Direct Beneficiaries: 40 youngsters with ages between 18 and 30 years and 8 group leaders, citizens or residents of Spain, Germany, Turkey, Slovakia, Estonia, Romania, Italy, and Greece
Youth Exchange, 06.05.2016 – 17.05.2016, where the participants exchanged ideas and experiences on the topic of healthy life style. In the frame of intercultural and no-formal education, the participants worked during the activity to understand the importance of a balanced and healthy lifestyle, the role of peer-to-peer education, but also practiced the planning and implementing of educational initiatives, through peer-to-peer education, that promote a healthy lifestyle among the young people.
Sábado Saludable – 14th of May 2016, from 3 to 6 pm, in the exterior patio of the Comercial Center El Trompo, La Orotava.
An event addressed to the youngsters, based on the preventions of diseases like diabetes, cardiac and respiratory illness, and various types of cancer. The objective is to promote a healthy lifestyle, using different workshops and activities.
To implement this project, P.O.D. Association has received the sponsorship of Compañía de Aguas Fuente Azul, S.L., Servicio Canario de Salud and of course Multicentro Comercial El Trompo, which has offered its installation to organize this activity.

On June 2nd the German team organized a local event following the Loading Healthiness YE. It took place in the Günthersburgpark in Frankfurt and during the peak, about 30 people participated in it even though it started to rain. There was healthy food, mostly fruits, vegetables and nuts. The sportive activities included yoga, tennis, badminton, football, basketball, Czech Fortfight, biking, skipping, acrobatics and more. Because the event was focused on healthy lifestyle, it was strongly prohibited to consume alcohol or smoke during the event.
After leaving Tenerife the estonians organised a little workshop in Saku Youthcenter and also in Ylojärvi International Camp 2016, between 13 – 17 June 2016, and there with people of 12-15 years old.
Estonian group leader Aivo explained what was Loading Healthiness project and what we were doing, showing some pictures, replying the questions from the youngsters… They also made a quiz, dividing the participants in two teams.
The Spanish group participated in the event “La Orotava Callejea”, which was celebrated the 9th of July with the purpose to bring sports closer to the youngsters. With the help of the town’s youth house, P.O.D. had the chance to have a stand which they used to promote healthy habits as well as the work the association had been doing and calls for future projects, through different activities and games. During the whole day people was constantly approaching the stand and asking questions to the members of the team.

The 22 of June, at the Agriculture Department of the “Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria, took place the dissemination event of the Italian group of the “Loading Healthiness” project. There were around 15-20 students with an age range between 19-23. The event last 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The participants explained, during the event, what they learned about healthy lifestyle and nutrition in the project. With the help of some multimedia presentations and a small quiz they gave to the audience some basic information, and they answered to questions about healthy lifestyle and Erasmus+.
Votsis and V.Y.i.A. hosted a final event for closing the season on Sunday 13th of June 2016 in Thessaloniki, where they had the opportunity to share their experiences and the knowledge acquired during “Loading Healthiness”. Young people came up and showed interest on the things they had to share with them, gave them flyers they made against smoking and drinking alcohol. It was a pleasure for them to see young people that actually cared about their health and they were encouraged to keep exercising and eating healthy.
This event has become very popular and more than 1000 people participated on it.
They decided to make their dissemination while they were participating on another project in Poland with the topic and title of “Hugs No Drugs”. They talked about healthy lifestyle, using one flipchart presentation they prepared.
There were 34 participants from Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Turkey.
Shortly after the return from Tenerife, the Romanian group organized a gathering with a group of students, members of the Electrical Engineering Students League from Iași.
Through peer-to-peer method, there were made some presentations of the subjects discussed and learned during the youth exchange. The first one was about the ”Loading Healthiness” project, its objectives and activities. Also, it was made a description of the Erasmus+ Program, the Youthpass certificate and the 8 key competences that can be developed during the program’s projects.
Yet, during this dissemination meeting, the most important topic was the improvement of the lifestyle in order to have a healthier body and mind. There were also presented the 4 types of non-communicable diseases that can be a result of an unhealthy lifestyle and the risk factors that can trigger and help the development of the non-communicable diseases.
They held a local workshop for people from their organization and outside and they talked about sports, healthy lifestyle, possibilities, how to promote it, they showed some pictures and videos from the YE. They also did a “competition“ and asked participants to write a short essay on what sport and healthy lifestyle means to them or their relationship to them and how they would suggest to promote it, where more than 40 people applied.
